Blue Lake is a beautiful little lake located at 10,000' elevation. The campground has 15 official sites. There are rest rooms and drinking water available. The fishing is excellent and there are several trailheads leading into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains nearby. Bear Lake is about 1 mile further in. There is a crossroad at the entrance to the campground and if you take the left, you'll be starting up the hill to Trinchera Peak. Up about a mile-and-a-half is the northern end of the North Fork Trail. Directions: At the northern foot of Cuchara Pass on State Highway 12 there is a dirt road leading west for 4 miles to Blue Lake. The campground is a quarter mile up the hill above the lake. |
