Olney Springs, Colorado
Olney Springs is located on the eastern plains of Colorado just to the north of US Highway 50. This is a farming and ranching area that has come on hard times. A lot of the development in this area in the early 1900's was based on the irrigation water that flowed in the Colorado Canal. Things were good until a drought in the 1920's nearly dried up that source of water. Then came the years of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. And now, a lot of the local water rights have been sold to the City of Aurora...
