Formerly a State Recreational Area, Hawk Springs State Park has been a fisherman's favorite for many years. The fishing for largemouth bass, channel catfish and walleye is renowned. The ice fishing is supposed to be pretty good, too. The park also has a large blue heron rookery with birds like the great horned owl, blue-winged and green-winged teal, pintail, gadwall and wood ducks spending their summers here. The park offers 24 camping units, with comfort stations and accommodations for trailers in addition to the large parking area and boat ramps. Hawk Springs State Park is south of the I-25 via US 85 and State Road 151.
