Thayne is located in the bottom of Star Valley, about 18 miles south of Alpine and about 15 miles north of Afton, via US Highway 89. This is an area of great National Forest playgrounds and top-notch fishing. Just up the road are Palisades Reservoir, Jackson, Grand Teton National Park, the National Elk Refuge and Yellowstone National Park.
