Grand Targhee Ski & Summer Resort
Jackson, Wyoming

42 miles northwest of Jackson, at 8,000 feet in the high Teton country, is the Grand Targhee Ski and Summer Resort. This area is famous for its consistently superb snow conditions: more than 500 inches per year of the finest powder. The Ski Resort includes Fred's Mountain and Peaked Mountain. Fred's Mountain is primarily 1,500 skiable acres of intermediate to advanced-intermediate slopes. Peaked Mountain offers 1,500 acres of snowcat-accessed powder skiing. There's a permanent freestyle half-pipe for the boarders (there's actually three freestyle terrain parks) and 15 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails.

Grand Targhee also offers snowcoach, snowmobile and cross-country trails leading into Yellowstone National Park. Or take a sleigh ride into the heart of the 7,000-head wintering elk herd on the National Elk Refuge. The Rendezvous Base Lodge feels like an intimate western village with five restaurants, a full service bar, activity center, conference rooms, massage professionals and six retail shops. The 96 lodging rooms vary from economy hotel units to two-bedroom condos with full kitchens. Nearby are other accommodations ranging from motels to bed and breakfasts to dude ranches.
