Vail Golf Club

Vail Golf Club is a public 18-hole course, operated by the Vail Recreation District. As you can see, I was through here in the early fall as the leaves were changing. The course is strung out in the valley beside the I-70 with mountains rising straight up from the southern edge of some fairways.

The golf club was pretty busy on this beautiful Saturday morning. The parking lot was almost full, there were only a couple of caddies around, the clubhouse was busy. I came across a couple of photographers in different spots along my drive here: one group seemed to be doing some kind of wedding/family shoot next to the pond by the #1 green; the other was doing what looked to be promo shots: golfers doing their favorite thing in the midst of all that natural color.

As you can see on the links map, Vail Golf Club is also a certified Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary (notice the top photo with all the birds working over the fairway for breakfast). There are several nice riparian areas scattered through the golf course.
