With huge panoramic views of the Tahoe area and some of the Sierra's best powder, Mt. Rose is probably Tahoe's best kept secret, especially with the mountain being only 25 miles from downtown Reno. There are a couple good terrain parks on the mountain, and then there's the area called "the Chutes." The Chutes is 200+ acres of single and double diamond trails: advanced skiers only. Because of the nature of the terrain, the Chutes is controlled by a series of gates, and if the gates are closed: Stay Out, Stay Alive. Crossing a closed gate or illegally entering closed terrain can get you banned from the mountain for 3 years... |
