The Turquoise Trail is a scenic byway connecting Santa Fe with Los Cerrillos, Madrid, Golden, Sandia Park, Cedar Crest, and Tijeras. The day I took these photos, I drove south out of Santa Fe to just beyond Golden and then turned around and headed back. I took my time and took lots of photos (it's been fun sorting them out for this), met some great people along the way and reacquainted myself with this part of New Mexico that I hadn't been in since I last worked in Santa Fe back in 1997. The first few miles heading south out of Santa Fe are spent driving across a high, almost barren plain. Lots of new houses out there, new industrial park, new school, new prison construction (just south of the Santa Fe is the location of the New Mexico Penitentiary, which I didn't find too scenic but you know it is). So I took photos of things I do find scenic, so bear with me on this one... |
