Questa Ranger District
At the upper end of Red River Canyon (State Road 578), take Forest Road 487. West Fork Road turns west off of 487 but is closed to vehicles until it is rebuilt. Middle Fork Road is 2 miles further in and signed. It turns off to the south and crosses a bridge. While these roads are open to cross country skiers, snowshoers and snowmobiles, they both consist of steep trails and numerous switchbacks. Rating: Expert USGS Quad: Wheeler Peak |
