Camino Real Ranger District
From Taos, head east on US 64 about 19 miles to the trailhead, where parking is available. This 2.6 mile trail passes through a variety of terrain, including Forest Roads 70, 70A and 70B, giving great views of the Moreno Valley, Eagle Nest Lake and Wheeler Peak Wilderness Area. Angel Fire and Valle Escondido can be easily accessed from this trail. This trail sees heavy use all year round with lots of hikers, mountain bikers and riders on horseback in the summer and fall with winter and early spring bringing in lots of snowshoers, snowmobilers and cross country skiers.
