Canjilon Ranger District
This 1-mile long trail through highland meadows, aspen stands and densely forested sections of mixed conifers is for hikers, Jeeps and 4WD vehicles only. To get here: go 32 miles north of Abiquiu (31 miles south from Chama) on US Highway 84. Turn east on Forest Road 125 (1/2 mile south of Cebolla, 2 miles north of the Canjilon turnoff) and continue for about 6.5 miles. About 2 miles south of Trout Lakes this trail turns off of Forest Road 801. This road is open spring, summer and fall but Forest Road 125 is closed in the winter (no snow plowing). Rating: Easy to moderate |
