Pike National Forest
Gold Dust Trail #653

The Gold Dust Trail is about 8 miles of moderately difficult trail high in the TenMile Mountains. As the trail also works as a good cross-country ski trail, it sees lots of use in the summer, fall and winter.

    Elevations:
  • Trail beginning: 11,000'
  • High Point: 11,000'
  • Trail ending: 10,000'

Access: In the town of Como, turn northwest from US 285 on County Road 50. The south trailhead is at the edge of Church Camp, the north trailhead being about 5.5 miles northwest above the Selkirk Campground on North Tarryall Creek.

Notes: Part of the Gold Dust Trail follows an old water flume built to carry water from North Tarryall Creek to mining operaitons in the upper Tarryall Drainage. The upper part of the trail gives access to the old wagon road crossing Boreas Pass. You'll want to either bring your own water or your own water treatment stuff as there is no water available at either the trailheads or Selkirk Campground.
