The Devil's Head Trail accesses the Devil's Head Lookout on the Front Range north of Colorado Springs. The 1.4 mile trail is rated as moderately difficult and sees most of its traffic in the summer.
Access: Take State Highway 67 ten miles west of Sedalia to the Rampart Range Road. Turn south (left) and go about 8.5 miles to the Devil's Head Picnic Area/Campground and Trailhead. Notes: The trail leaves the Devil's Head Picnic Area and heads south to the last fire lookout in Pike National Forest. This trail sees some 20,000 hikers per year. Bring your own water, you'll need it as the trail is very steep for nearly its whole length. Once at the fire tower, you may decide to return to your vehicle via the Zinn Trail, which will add about 1 mile to your round trip distance. USGS Maps: Devil's Head |
