The West Branch Trail is about 7.2 miles long (one way) and is rated as More to Most Difficult.
Trailhead Location: From Fort Collins take Highway 14 west about 60 miles and turn north onto Laramie River Road. Travel north on Laramie River Road about eight miles. The trailhead is on the left side of the road. This trail is in the Rawah Wilderness. It's a beautiful trail that follows the West Branch of the Laramie River to Island and Carey Lakes. Fording streams may be tricky during spring runoff. The West Branch Trail connects to Blue Lake Trail and Rawah Trail. Campsites must be at least 200 feet from water, and no campfires are allowed above treeline. |
