The Lion Gulch Trail leads about 2.8 miles to Homestead Meadows. It is heavily used and is rated as More Difficult.
Trailhead Location: The trailhead is located on Highway 36, seven miles east of Estes Park, or twelve miles west of Lyons. The trail goes into Homestead Meadows where there are eight historical homesteads. The homesteads were built in the late 1800's and early 1900's before most were abandoned. There are interpretive signs at each homestead. If you visit all the homesteads, you'll be 6.5 miles from the trailhead. |
