Grays & Torreys Trail #54

The Grays and Torreys Trail is about 5 miles long (one way), is rated as More Difficult and expect to see lots of people in the summer as this trail summits two 14ers.

Elevations:

• Trailhead: 11,200'
• Destination: 14,270'

Trailhead Location: Off of Interstate 70, take the Bakerville exit. Head south on Stevens Gulch Road for about four miles. This road is very bumpy and may be considered a 4-wheel drive road. In the winter, the road is impassable.

Hiking way above treeline, Grays and Torreys offers climbers/hikers the opportunity to summit two fourteeners in one day. As these are the highest mountains on the Continental Divide, photos may be taken of both the east and west sides of the Rocky Mountain Range. Even in the summer months, snow fields still exist at such high elevations. Always be prepared for sudden weather changes and start hiking early in the morning to avoid afternoon lightning storms.
