Chief Mountain Trail #58

The Chief Mountain Trail is about 1 mile long (one way) and is rated as More Difficult.

    Elevations:
  • Trailhead: 10,800'
  • Destination: 11,710'

Trailhead Location: On Highway 103, pull over just east of mile marker 18. The trailhead is on the south side of the road and is NOT marked.

Passing through a spruce and fir forest, you'll reach treeline in just a short distance. The alpine tundra begins here. The last stretch of the trail offers an overlook of the gorgeous Bear Creek Basin, including Mount Evans, Mount Goliath, Rogers Peak and Roslin Peak.
