You'll find Priest Lake State Park about 30 miles south of the Canadian border on the eastern shore of Priest Lake, a 19-mile-long lake essentially surrounded by the Selkirk Mountains. This is excellent fishing country, fed by crystal clear water coming down from the high Selkirks. Black bear, moose, whitetail deer and bald eagles in a mountainous setting of fir, hemlock and cedar... it just doesn't get much better... unless you make the 2-mile journey at the northern end of Priest Lake to Upper Priest Lake. Priest Lake State Park offers 151 campsites, 5 camping cabins and a group camp year-round. While the fishing is great, so is the snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing with the Indian Creek Unit giving access to more than 200 miles of groomed and marked snowmobile trails. The Priest Lake area is also justly famous for the huckleberry crop. |
