Snowmass Ski Area
Snowmass, Colorado

The 3,132 acres of terrain, glades, cruisers and steeps with a total vertical drop of 4,406 feet (biggest vertical drop in the United States) almost demands repeat visits from everyone who goes to Snowmass Ski Area. With lots of family friendly activities and wide open, groomed cruising, Snowmass Ski Area has been rated one of the best family ski areas in North America for many years. In addition to all the great skiing, Snowmass offers boarders 3 terrain parks (1 is brand new) with 1 superpipe and 1 beginner pipe. Also, the new Elk Camp Meadows learning area is located mid-mountain and features a dedicated quad chairlift to help make learning easier. But this mountain isn't just for the beginners and intermediates: there's extensive extreme skiing and gladed terrain and some incredible mogul runs. New for 2008-2009: a new Sheer Bliss lift.

The Snowmass Base Village is undergoing extensive improvements and offers a number of new additions, including a Sam's Smokehouse Restaurant and Sneaky's Tavern. The other 8 restaurants in the Snowmass Base Village area are: Up 4 Pizza, Two Creeks Mexican Cafe, Ullrhof, Burlingame Cabin (snowcat dinner rides), Gwyn's High Alpine, Cafe Suzanne, Lynn Britt Cabin (lunches and snowcat dinner rides), and the Cirque Bar & Grill. If you need a room there's more than 14,000 beds for rent within a 10-mile radius. There are several ski/board rental shops in the Base Village. The free Snowmass Skier Shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes from Rubey Park in Aspen. And Snowmass is implementing new RFID ski tags and specal gates to make accessing some of the lifts quicker and easier.

Along with Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain and Buttermilk, Snowmass Ski Area is part of the Aspen/Snowmass Ski Complex owned and operated by the Aspen Skiing Company.
