This difficult 3 mile trail drops down to the north from Cordova Pass in the Spanish Peaks area. It sees most traffic in the summer and fall.
Access: Go south out of La Veta on State Highway 12 to the summit of Cuchara Pass. At the summit, turn left and go east on Forest Road 46 about 6 miles to the Cordova Pass Trailhead. Notes: From Cordova Pass Trailhead, follow the West Peak Trail about 1/2 mile, then bear left. The Wade Trail descends down the northwestern flank of the West Spanish Peak until it ends at the private property boundary (so the only way out is back up the hill). Along the way you'll be passing by several of the famous Great Dikes and have some great views to the north and west. This trail doesn't see much traffic and is quite vague in spots.
