This 4.6 mile moderate-to-difficult trail sees most of its traffic on weekends in the summer and fall.
Access: This trail is mostly in the Jefferson Creek drainage northwest of Jefferson in Park County. Access is either from the Lodgeple Campground or the Jefferson Creek Campground. Both campgrounds are on Forest Road 37. Notes: West Jefferson Trail follows Jefferson Creek for the first 2.5 miles, then heads a bit northwest up a tributary and climbs to a series of switchbacks just below the Continental Divide. At the top of the switchbacks is the junction with the Colorado Trail, just below Georgia Pass. You can take the Colorado Trail back down the hill for a nice loop. USGS Maps: Jefferson, Boreas Pass |
