Ute Creek Trail #629

This most difficult 4 mile trail is almost entirely within the Lost Creek Wilderness. This trail sees most use in the spring, summer and fall.

Elevations:

• Trail beginning: 8,750'
• High Point: 11,200'
• Trail ending: 11,200'

Access: The Ute Creek Trailhead is about 20 miles southeast of Jefferson on the Tarryall Road. Parking at the trailhead is limited.

Notes: From the parking area, Ute Creek Trail crosses a footbridge over Tarryall Creek and heads almost immediately for Bison Pass. The grade is moderate at first but steadily increases as you approach the pass. From Bison Pass you can access Bison Peak, McCurdy Mountain and the Brookside - McCurdy Trail. This is a dry and steep trail, so bring lots of your own water.
