This year-round, heavily used trail sees lots of motorcycle traffic in season. The trail is 2.5 miles long and is rated as moderately difficult.
Access: Take 26th Street out of Colorado Springs to Gold Camp Road. The trailhead is about 2 miles up Gold Camp Road. Notes: This trail on the eastern side of the Front Range gives great views of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods. Camping in undeveloped areas is allowed and campfires do not require permits, just be aware of the responsibility you are taking on when you light one. Pack it in, pack it out. And you might want to bring your own water. USGS Maps: Mt. Big Chief |
