This 3.3 mile trail just touches the eastern edge of the Mt. Evans Wilderness in the Pegmatite Points area. The trail is rated as moderately difficult and sees most of its use in the summer and fall.
Access: On US 285 between Bailey and Pine Junction there is a traffic light on Crow Hill. Turn and go north here on Park County Road 43. Go 6.8 miles and bear right at the fork. Go another 1.5 miles (past Meridian Campground) and take the next left (Prospector Way). Go 0.8 miles past Camp Rosalie to the trailhead. You might want 4WD because Prospector Way can be muddy and rough. Notes: This is a well maintained and easy to follow trail that leads north out of the Elk Creek drainage as it rises to a saddle where Pike National Forest meets the Arapaho National Forest at the eastern edge of the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area. Nice rock formations, great views, bring your own water. There are several primitive campsites at the saddle, and be familiar with wilderness rules and regs.
