This 4.6 mile connector trail in Lost Creek Wilderness sees most traffic in summer and early fall, and is rated as more difficult.
Access: Lake Park Trail is a connector trail between the Hankins Pass Trail and the Brookside - McCurdy Trail in the southern part of Lost Creek Wilderness. Notes: Lake Park Trail stays close to the high ridge of the Tarryall Mountains in the southern part of Lost Creek Wilderness. This is the area west of Goose Creek and east of Brookside-McCurdy, north of Hankins Pass. Lake Park Trail heads north from the junction with Hankins Pass Trail at Hankins Pass. It climbs pretty steadily through spires and outcroppings of pink Pikes Peak granite with great views to the south and west. At about 11,000' you'll come into Lake Park itself, a small open park surrounded by granite formations and the snags left over from an old fire. The trail stays along the west side of Lake Park and then rises again through granite walls to its high point on top of the Tarryall's. Then it drops to the northwest and meets up with Brookside-McCurdy near Hay Creek. USGS Maps: McCurdy Mountain |
