The 3.8-mile-long French Pass Trail is rated as easy to moderate and sees most of its traffic in the summer and fall.
Access: From the US 285 in Jefferson, go north on County Road 35 to County Road 54. Follow this toward Georgia Pass. Go 2.25 miles past the Michigan Creek Campground to the French Creek crossing. Just before the crossing there is a flat area for parking. Notes: French Pass is on the Continental Divide between Bald Mountain and Mt. Guyot. The French Pass Trail parallels French Creek almost to the top of the ridge, following a double-rut wagon road built by early pioneers in the area. The views up here are pretty spectacular.
