Trinidad’s newest renovated historic building, the former Toltec Hotel, was the first structure named as “the most endangered historic building in Colorado” in 1998 due to a court order for demolition. Many folks within the community did whatever they could to save the Toltec, as it had long been a highly coveted and loved landmark within the El Corazon de Trinidad National Historic District.

In 2004 the Toltec was purchased by Shearman Real Estate, LLC who planned a total renovation in order to “give back to the community”. This major undertaking has resulted in the current ten loft units on the second and third floors of the building, and three commercial / retail units on the street level.

The loft units are truly beautiful with new hard wood floors, granite tile counters, upscale kitchen appliances, combined with the original historic windows. The lofts provide all the modern conveniences with air conditioning, personal laundry appliances, and elevator access. The lofts range from 795 to 2000 square feet in size and provide both 1 and 2 bedroom units.

The commercial / retail units facing Commercial Street are bright and shiny with huge front windows, and a new tin ceiling reflecting the light from the numerous hanging fixtures. Together with the hard wood flooring, the units are gorgeous!
