A view of the San Tan Mountains from Queen Creek

Queen Creek is a small town that straddles the county line between Maricopa County and Pinal County. Queen Creek is also home of the Queen Creek Olive Mill, a family-owned company that grows high quality olives and processes them in the production of extra virgin olive oil. The town of Queen Creek was named after Queen Creek, a seasonal stream that finds its headwaters in the mountains above Superior before flowing past the foot of the Silver Queen Mine, then through Queen Creek Canyon before opening out in that flat area between the mountains now known as "Queen Creek." Back in the old days, the railroad ran through Queen Creek and there was a spur built near the corner of Rittenhouse and Ellsworth Roads. For many years, many of the local populace made their living through the growing of cotton.

Queen Creek has grown since those early days but still retains much of that agricultural air. The residents incorporated the city in 1989 in order to have some control over local development while, at the same time, provide support and direction for the preservation of their small town ambiance.
