The Springs Trail is a 3.8 mile loop trail rated as easy. It sees heavy use from late spring to early winter. The trail follows Forest Road 182, a route that can get really muddy during rainy season. The trail parallels and crosses Thompson Creek, a rich but very sensitive riparian habitat. Therefore: no human waste within 200 feet of any watercourse, and Pack it in, Pack it out. If you'd like to trek a bit further, take the Iron Horse Connector to the Country Club Loop or the Little Bear Connector to the Blue Ridge Loop. Elevation: 7,140' to 7,190' Access: Take State Road 260 from Lakeside toward McNary until you reach Bucksprings Road. Turn onto Bucksprings Road and go 0.6 miles. Turn left onto Sky Hi Retreat access road (Forest Road 182) and go 1.1 miles to the trailhead on the left. USGS Maps: Indian Pine, Lakeside, Boundary Butte, Sponseller Mountain |
