Mogollon Rim Interpretive Trail #615

This easy, 1-mile trail sees very heavy use all year-round. The trail is on relatively level terrain from the parking area to the very edge of the Mogollon Rim (named for Don Juan Ignacio Flores Mogollon, Governor of the Province of New Mexico between 1712 and 1715). With the Mogollon Rim as a very unique dividing line, this is a great, self-guided interpretive trail on which to see the differences between the Colorado Plateau and the Gila-Salt River watersheds below. This trail is 1 mile long and takes about an hour to complete. The first 1/2 mile is paved and universally accessible. As for the plaques that should be in place to tell you what you're looking at, most of them have disappeared.

Access: The trailhead is on State Road 260 between Lakeside and Show Low, about 3 miles northwest of the National Forest District Office.
