Townsend, Montana |
The first Europeans to settle in this area didn't arrive until the late 1860's. Enough gold was found in the area to get the railroad to build a railstop in Townsend. The town was named by officials of the Northern Pacific Railroad, and named in honor of the wife of the railroad's then president Charles Barstow Wright (1875-1879). |
